Liquid Thermosetting Resin for Leak Repair Check Seal™ 9R

logo-socoCheck Seal™ 9R is a viscous, thermally activated liquid resin that cures when exposed to heat to form a very hard, solid sealant, blocking leak paths. As it begins to cure, it forms a chemically resistant, insoluble solid that is very effective when applied in threads and gasket at temperatures up to +343°C and with added fibers can be applied at temperatures up to +816°C.

Resin is used in a wide variety of industrial applications, including sealing threaded pipe joints or tool joints, gaskets, equipment joints and flanges.

Applications : steam, boiler feed water, acids, alkalis, ammonia, hydraulic fluids, hydrocarbons, refrigerants and propane
CAUTION : Some of the adhesives in the steam and boiler feed water can kill the cure.
The exact scope of sealant´s application suitability refer to compatibility chart.
Temperature range : from +93°C to +343°C
Limitations : Don´t use at temperatures exceeding +343°C; Do not use on oxygen services.
Appearance : black viscous liquid
Penetration (ASTM D217) : 415
Specific gravity : 1,15
Injection characteristics : pourable liquid; flows well with minimum hydraulic pressure if injected
Cure : begins to cure at +93°C; at temperatures above +121°C cures to hard rubber; the rate of curing depends on temperature
Long term changes : no long term changes during operation
Storage : in a dry place at temperature below +21°C
Shelf life : 6 months; storage in freezer extends the shelf life
Packing : cans or pails

The sealant is suitable only for industrial use by trained personnel according to the local regulations and employer requirements. Always read the Safety Data Sheet (SDS), technical data sheet and warranty conditions before use. For information on the chemicals and conditions regarding health and safety during handling, storage, use and disposal, refer to the relevant SDS supplied with the material, or available upon request.

The application suitability of the material use for a particular chemical composition of the medium is given in the compatibility chart eventually in chemical resistance tables for respective material. Chemical resistance (compatibility chart) tables are available upon request or as online version at our website (tables).

Some chemical additives contained in steam or boiler feed water may prevent curing of the sealant.
